bit confuzzled , simple answer needed

Some brands of cds/dvds are simply not compatible with some drives..

A couple of years ago I bought a 100 DVD-R's from bestbuy for $6.99 and I brought them home and my dvd drive would not read/write to them at all.

Sometimes manufacturers of the dvd drives release an update to flash your drive to make it compatible with more brands so you could look into that.

tried a firmware update this is the message i got when i try to burn

"Windows Media Player could not complete burning because the disc is not compatible with your drive. Try inserting a different kind of recordable media or use a disc that supports a write speed that is compatible with your drive"

sorted, i turned down the write speed from 48x down to 10x and it worked!!
