The 7600GT is actually a good match for that CPU. Anything much more powerful will just be bottlenecked.

It depends entirely on what resolution you play at, the CPU bottleneck diminishes as you go up. You have a 22" so your resolution will be 1680x1050. At this res, you'd be able to get away with a HD 4850.
