I am looking for a router that I can set up in my house and use my laptop out in my shop. Now it is less than 300 feet by a bit, and I want a pretty good signal strenght. What router would best suit this?

Any 802.11g router will do, as long as you put it near the outside. Usually the signal will go pretty far outdoor depending where you put it. There's not much interference outdoor like there is indoor. 802.11g can reach distances of 300 feet and beyond in outdoor envirnoment.

You can try the 802.11n router, build to better provide signal distances twice as much but still in testing. There are some bad review but what can you expect from a brand new device.

I installed this is my g/f parents house, which is 5500 sqft and they get a "very good" signal from one corner downstairs to the opposite corner upstairs. The laptop upstatirs has the following wireless card.

I think the router got bad reviews because people didnt buy the compatible wireless cards. They try to use their old cards and expect to get the range. This setup is the besty I have ever installed. If it wasnt so expensive, I would get it myself.

Get a decent 802.11G router setup inside and then get an all weather 802.11G repeater and mount that outside securely.
