I'm guessing a batch file would be the easiest way to do this..
I want my server (XP Home) to automatically create a remote assistance request file and save it to the D: drive (shared hard drive so another computer can check up on the server) whenever the computer starts.
help?

remote desktop isnt avaliable within Windows XP Home, only Pro sadly. it seemed like it should be simple to make a batch file to craft remote assistance around my needs

Use Ultra VNC. We use that here at our university and it is great. Very quit background program. You can even encrypt the program.

+1 for UltraVNC. The built in file transfer protocol really helps out when I need to move files to remote PC users systems too. You can even start UltraVNC as a service so that it's available the minute the computer enters the OS.
