So my computer's hdd's finally gave out after 6 years of no problems. And its time to re-format them. However, i have around 80+GB of music and movies id like to back up.

On my moms computer has a burner, so i decided to try to set my HDDs (one at a time) as slaves. However, when i booted up the computer....it doesnt recognize them... I doesnt say anything about them. But when i go into the BIOS settings, it sees them...what gives?

Thanks

Well if your HD gave out and died its not going to see the drive cause its dead. This is a good reason to backup files. Every 100 or so songs I download I add to a music backup disc. When I fill one I make a new one.

You could try taking it to a data recovery place but thats going to cost some coin.

well...it gave me the error of...lets see if i can remember this...

The following file is either missing or currupt:

and it gave some system32 config file...i cant remember the path..
