well i only got the laptop in june. so surely it should be all covered?
hijack this has found like 5 unknown files in the winsock, and lsp seems to think everything is ok. apart from that my system seems clean, and is running fine. gonna turn it off and see if its ok in the morning

How does windows vista even get viruses and spyware?? Everything you do pretty much needs to be confirmed with uac so I don't understand how these things can sneak in.

Vista can get viruses and spyware pretty easily, UAC on or off. No operating system is 100% secure, and when you are using a popular Microsoft OS, someone's gonna find a way around it.

yea uac just kept bugging me so i turned it off
i dont even know if it is virus related. nod32 didnt pick up anything and hijack this has just picked up a few unknown files in the winsock.
its running fine now, but i dont remember my hdd light blinking as much as its been doing lately.

formatted now it seems ok ... for now
just gotta hope.
