We all know (or maybe not yet, and this will excite you) that Intel is dropping their CPU prices up to 50% on July 22nd when they release new CPU's.....my question is, based on everyone's superior knowledge here at CF, will they be any better than exhisting ones?...here's some stats for you...
Price drop list
These drops will bring the q6600 down to a mere 40 bucks more than a e6600's current price....however, there is no mention anywhere yet on how the drop will affect the e6600 series itself......although they must be dropping the prices quite substantially because the new cpu's, such as the e6750, e6550, and e6540 all have a higher clock speed and fsb than the current e6400/6420 models and yet they will be cheaper!! So that must mean that 6600, 6400, and 6420 models will be reduced in price. However, knowing those clever, sly little intels folks, I wonder... will the new e6550 will be the base model (like the current e6600) and then the e6650 and e6750 will just be overclocked version of the base model with less head room to oc, but more expensive (like the current e6700)?......I want to know what you think because it's faster if we all "move the mountain" at the same time, cuz I don't know it all!!!
Another thing, since there are no benchmarks out for the new cpus, how much of a difference in performance are we looking at with the increase clock and fsb speeds (up to 3.0ghz, and 1333mhz respectively) compared to the 6400/6420 and 6600/6700 chips(currently up to only 2.66ghz at most, and only 1066mhz at most, respectively)?
