Apple Powerbook basics

I never had a Apple before. I am pretty knowlegable with Windows. I got this Powerbook G4 and when I start it up it goes as far as the flashing folder/question mark. I inserted a Apple operating system DVD from a friend and restart the laptop but nothing loads, just keeps telling me to restart the laptop. I do not even know how to get the DVD to eject. Also is there anywhere on startup I can go to view system iformation. I heard these do not have a BIOS. Any help would be grear.

Try restarting it and hold the SHIFT key as it boots up. Shut down you Mac and hold down the "C" key.

To eject the disk, press and hold the "E" key after you hear the start-up chime.
