Any point in getting a 6Gb/s hard drive?

I've been out of the technological circle for a while now and am wondering about this question. From what I've gathered so far, it's apparently impossible for any drive to transfer at this actual rate, but rather, it's the internal controllers and the motherboards ability to communicate at this speed.. So, what'd be the point of getting one exactly if no drive can reach it?

There are motherboards with SATA controllers that support transfer rates of 6gb/s.

There ARE drives that can reach it. Modern SSDs are pushing the limits of the 6 Gbps bus, and will easily saturate the 3 Gbps bus. If you buy a platter based hard drive, even ones up to 10,000 RPM, you usually won't saturate the bus.

The limit is really there for the SSD crowd at this point.
