Find your motherboard manufacturer and model and check it on their website, they should include a spreadsheet which tells you which processor it supports.

Done That now i have another problem

i have a speed limit on my cpu of athlon xp 2400 w/ 133fsb, now if i buy the athlon 2400 w/266 (clostest i can get to 133fsb) will it automatically slow it down or will it crash my computer.
p.s what is front side bus

I suggest getting a motherboard.

Are you saying that your mobo doesnt support DDR ram?

No its a pc not mobo, and it supports sdram, but will the fsb automatically be slowed down by the chipset, my motherboard is asus a7v-vm (i dont have a lot of cash to spare). so will it auto slow down the fsb or crash my DESKTOP pc !!
