I don't know anything about that particular card but I know that the 256MB versions of that card with EVGA are actually better than the 512 versions. On the 512 the ram isn't even covered with a heatsink, and I doubt the 8600 could make proper use of that 512 in the first place. You could probably save some money if there's an option for 256. But I still would recommend with your budget to spend less on a quad and more on a vid card. There's not many games out now or in the immediate future that are limited by CPU power.
