AMD announces socket AM3 Phenom II processors

Yeah I got a decent PSU now. So I can afford to get a new chip not too long from now.

Hopefully by the time I decide to order one, it will be hovering some where in between $160~$180 (CAD).

Nice PI score.... What is the current intel record? I think AMD MAY be catching up... I forgot what an I7 rig scores...

The record is like mid 6 seconds. They still have a ways to go but they are hitting some nice clocks though. A Q6600 @ 5.1 does 9's

It's just a few seconds... Maybe soon AMD will get back up there and force Intel to bring down those prices of theres...

It doesn't seem AMD will have any competitive chips for quite a while. But they will continue to offer decent chips at an affordable cost.

Bulldozer must be a monster, or else AMD may never make a come back.

By the way, the X3 720 is finally on newegg canada.

As far as trying to compete w/ i7 and what is coming out next, I doubt AMD even cares as the market is so small. As long as it puts up some good numbers backed by a good price that is all you really need. Perhaps later when the company is alittle more stable they will put out some highend gear but for right now it holds such a small percentage of sales.
