That time of year when those of us in the colonies remind the Crown of how we kicked their collective tails and gave them the finger in response to British rule. 
Seriously though many men and women gave their lives then as they do now, so that those of us here today can continue to be free.
Rest in Peace Warriors of Freedom.
You answered the call of a nation when it chose to be free.
Although outnumbered and under-equipped, your courage and determination would not let you give up.
Through blazing heat and numbing cold you fought on.
An empty stomach and tattered clothes didn't stop you.
And when the time came to give it your all, you did.
With out reservation.
With out hesitation.
With out remorse.
And sometimes, as it happens in war, you gave your life for your ideals.
There were tears from a mother, a wife, a family.
A warrior, a son, a husband, a father, had made the ultimate sacrifice.
But in the hearts of those left behind there was a pride.
The pride that comes from knowing their loved one fought and died for what they believed in.
The belief that all people should be free.

Those beliefs still hold true today in the hearts of American military personnel serving all over the world. Navy, Air Force, Marines, Army. Let's not forget those who serve in the Reserve Forces. They too serve, those that stand and wait.
