Hi
My friend has asked me to post his (in the making) PC build & would like some advice on his build. He already has a graphics card. He is looking to use his stock heat sink fan that comes with the CPU unless he can get a better one within his price range.
His build is as followed:

Case:
Cooler master Elite 430 Black Mid Tower Performance Case With Side Window With Coolermaster Elite 500W PSU £62.92

Optical Drive:
Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP 12x Blu-ray Player (Bare Drive With Software £56

Motherboard:
Asus P8H77-V Motherboard (Socket 1155, 32GB, DDR3 Support, ATX, Intel H77 Express, Quad GPU AMD CrossfireX Support, PCI Express 3.0, USB 3.0 Boost) £83.98

CPU:
Intel i3-2120 Sandybridge Core i3 Dual-Core Processor ? 3.30GHz, 3MB Cache, Socket 1155, 3 year Warranty, Retail Boxed £89.99

RAM:
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 8GB 1600Mhz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Module Kit £39.52

SSD:
Samsung 64GB 830 SSD SATA 6GBPS 2.5 Inch Desktop Basic Kit £50.98

HHD:
1TB Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda 7200.14 SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm 64mb Cache 8ms NCQ OEM £49.59

Total: £453.09

if anybody thinks he could chnage things for the better that would be great, his budget is £500 & so he has another £50 to play with as his current total is £453.09.

I'd personally change the 2nd gen i3 sandybridge to the 3rd gen i5 ivybridge as thats where he's gonna notice the most difference. I5 3rd gen £128.

The H77 chipset motherboard takes away the option of ever being able to overclock so i would go for a z77 chipset. i would understand if the h77 was much cheaper than the z77 motherboards, but its not.
Check specs of this board £80.

well he was thinking about it but cant really afford to go over his budget getting the i5. Is the this i3 verison any good? and is there a difference, with the motherboards ?

I'd go with 3rd gen i5 and get a z77, like my bro. Also, id get a cooler master hyper 212+ . Been rated good and has great performance

i posted the link for the z77 mobo above and its cheaper than the h77 you listed.

you said he had £50 left to spend on the budget so spend the extra 50 on getting the I5 3rd gen at £128 (which i also linked above)

don't bother with the cooler as that I3 you listed and the I5 i listed cannot be overclocked as they are locked.

(it has to have a k after the model number to be unlocked and allow overclocking, and its £170)

(for links, look in my post above for the blue underlined writing, then click on it)
