Hi Guys,

A friend of mine came to me last week with a problem on his Acer 5235, He told me that one day it just stopped working all of a sudden, and suggested it was the jack port. So I therefore got on with replacing it for a new port. With no improvement in power. Either on battery or power source.

I've tested the power adapter/cable and there is no problem with that, I've also checked power going through the jack port cable where it meets the motherboard with a multimeter and there is power flowing through it, I then moved onto checking the little Black Chips on the board, no this is where I'm guessing the problem lies. There's only power flowing through a handful of them, not all.

am i right in thinking the problem is in fact the motherboard and the chips that indicate no current as being dead. And resulting in the need for a new motherboard. Or can the dead chips be unsoldered and replaced?
