Instead, candidates will be required to pass one "A+ Essentials" exam (#220-601) that covers both hardware and software, plus choose one of several elective exams that focus on different areas of support.

...

All of the above exams are scheduled to be release in "late Q3 2006," according to the company's Web site. And more electives may be coming, a company representative told CertCities.com. Candidates will be able to take the exams in any order, but CompTIA recommends taking the Essentials exam first.

This is the best test prep stuff I have seen. You should still read books but these are EXCELLENT practive test. When I went for CCNA these tests were almost identical to the questions. They are a bit pricey but well worth it. They also have a free demo on the site!.

wow, those are expensive, i cant afford any of that. the only thing i can afford is the books. there is probably a reason why its so expensive, but i cant buy it.

i havn't taken it, just a practice that i did as fast as i could and got 70% not knowin' anything about printers.
so, i'd suggest just like takin' any other test ---- take your time, read the A+ cert books, take as many practice ones you can on the interent with the max amount of questions offered.

it's an expensive test, wich is why i'm waiting til i'm done my course to take it.

how much is the actual exam, not the one coming out in Q3 2006, currently, how much is it?
