whats the biggest difference between the intel 965 and 975 chipset? is the price difference really worth getting one over the other?

There isn't much differences between the 965 and 975 Intel chipset except that the 975 has better support for overclocking and a few more SATA ports support.

The 975 series are the extreme series of the 965. They support more hardware inputs and fast hardware. The 965 is slower, but not as slow as the 975.

I think the 965 supports DDRII-667, as the 975, I am 100% sure, supports DDRII-800.

965 100% sure supports DDR2 800, because thats what I'm using right now, and thats what it said the maximum supported memory said, it just depends on the model of motherboard you get

Well, true, but the fact that with these two boards:

Gigabyte S3
Gigabyte DS3

It's the same bloody thing, exept the DS3 has better capacitors.
That's what I hate in computing: They're the same thing, exept, different models.
