7800 Gs

Do you have the money to buy a new motherboard and SLI two graphics cards?

The 7800 GS is a pretty good card, but it's not good enough. It's about X850 XT PE range but with newer technology. If I were you, just buy a X850 XT PE. Even if it lacks Shader Model 3.0, it's relatively cheap price and power brings it above the 7800 GS. Sorry, for the nVIDIA fans, but ATI is still the King of the AGP market. The 7800 GS is about $100 more than the X850 XT PE, but it doesn't beat it outright. Instead, it stays at about the X850's range. Get a X850 XT PE. It's the best AGP card for the money and for it's performance.

yesterday, i was looking at benchmarks for the 7800gs vs. the x850xt pe, and the 7800gs kicked the x850 in the nuts. ima go see if i can find it hold on...

so you see, not only is it cheaper, its better. but in the end i decided on a 6800gs and a new mobo, but if you dont need a new mobo get the 7800. besides, an sli mobo with 2 7800gts would be at least $700 usd (300/card and mobo prices vary)

aww i meesed up the url thingee... now i feel all sad...

dont invest anything into agp, you'll feel a lot more comfortable with a pci-e motherboard, in the form of a socket 939, or even an lga 775, (id recomend 775 for anyone JUST getting ready to switch over from agp, because 939 is going to be done soon but 775 shows more life)
