A girl from work bought this HP HP Pavilion p7 1451 Desktop Computer with Next Gen AMD A10 Accelerated Processor by Office Depot for her boyfriend for Christmas. She mentioned he will be playing Diablo 3. I told her to go and return that and let me build her a PC instead. She eventually gave in and I came up with this build. She paid $599.99 for the HP, but is ok with going up to $650

No OS is needed.

How does that look?

Money is slightly tight for my friend, so shaving off even a few dollars is what she wants to do.

1. I went with the i3-2100 instead of the 3220 because of the $15 off promo that comes with the 2100. Bad idea? Should I just go with 3220 because it is a newer gen and slightly faster?
2. Go with the PSU above or go with this instead? Newegg.com - CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply
3. Are the 300 still a good way to go? Or is there a better cheaper alternative? Maybe the NZXT Source 220?

System will be used on a 27" Samsung with 1920x1080 resolution.

Main game will be Diablo 3 for now. But he does like other games like Skyrim.

Go with the 3220 instead since you are going with an i3.

I would drop the board down to a B75 to lower the price a tad.

Then get this PSU in its place.

The Corsair 200r seems like a better deal than the 300 these days.

Whats the point in getting such a big hard drive? I don't know anyone who comes close to using a TB. I'd grab a small SSD instead and add in a cheap HDD for storage if you need it.

You now know somebody who uses that much space and much more. Oh yea, I should mention that 2 of my 1TB drives that are full aren't hooked up due to lack of space in this case. They are still in my server case.

I wouldn't say it's a better option, but similar. Seasonic makes the guts of the TX650.

I went with everything I mentioned in my post to save some cash to get the better CPU, PSU, and GPU in regards to dropping some other things such as the motherboard. While still maintaining quality parts.

I can't say many people will have that much storage.. 240gb is actually more than enough for me

I have 2TB of stuff in my rig, but I use mine as my media server as well.
