There is a pretty good difference in the performance? The guy at Apple told my buddy that the 7200RPM werent in stock, but it wouldn't make a difference... What do you think?

I googled this, and like people have said
it makes a difference in boot times and opening of large files

read and write speeds are also [obviously] faster so anything accessed on your disk should be opened faster

Hold on a bit, what specific drives are we talking about here? If we're comparing two models that are the same apart from one's got the faster spin speed and faster access times, seek times etc. then yes, I'd go with the faster drive and it will make a difference. But spin speeds on their own mean nothing - a lot of modern 7200RPM drives can easily outperform older 10K ones.

It's the other figures you need to be looking at - what two drives are we specifically talking about? :)

Yeah if we were comparing Model Vs Model it might be different but as a rul of thumb The higher the speed, the quicker loading times will be.
