ok, i just slapped on some TX-2 to my 2 4770's.

while doing so, i noticed that there is no pads or paste or anything even close to the memory to help cool it other than air flow.

thermal pads (and paste for that matter) are only used when a plate is forcing them down right?

if so, does anyone know of a nice cooler that would work for 4770's.

thanks

mostlikely, yes. these are about 1/2", but you might be able to make it work by cutting them down with a dremel/grinder.

does the mem really get that hot that you need HS's for it?

well, when i put both my 4770's in there for some CF benchmarks, they overheat and i really didnt know why as my case has above average airflow.
but with my vram exposed like that, that could explain why.

grinding those down seems like a nice idea, atleast then i could have something on the ram cooling it other than just plain ol airflow (that may have been too hot with CF)
