The Inquirer (don't know how accurate they are) stated that AMD will release an Opteron processor clocked at 3 GHz in the beginning of the second quarter.

It uses the 90 nm single-core 256, aimed at two-way servers, should have 1 MB of L2 cache and use socket 940, like the previous models.

Personally, i would trust the inquirer. :p They have been wrong a couple times about roadmaps.

The Inquirer often times has very incorrect information. So, it's best to take their news with a grain of salt...

Anyway, the "Dell will not pick up AMD" article is refuted and debated here:
