256mb AGP MSI 7800 vs 6800 512 mb.

eyy guys, i wanna get anew graphics card and i was looking at the 7800GS with 256mb ram. but for same price i can get a 6800 with double the memory (512mb). Which one would be a better long term choice for gaming. I hope to play Oblivion btw. lol

The 6800 is a Gainward 6800 512mb
The 7800 is an MSI 7800GS 256mb

no question, the 7800. while the 512mb does help it is mainly a gimmick to get peoples attention. in reality it really won't benefit a card like the 6800 that much. is this a standard 6800 with 512mb or is it a GS/GT? if you want a 7800gs try to get the gainward golden sample. it has a 7800gt core.

thanx man much appreciated. i tried to tell the shop guy it was a gimick to actualy in those same words, but he insisted it was not so i had to turn to forums. lol, thanx again i wil get the 7800 256mb.
