Hi,

I just had a wierd thought and since I dont know much about this subject I thought I should ask some people.

Is there any reason why not to use 2 PSU's in a single PC with one running almost the whole system and the other just connected to the graphics card(s) only?

It would seriously cut down prices if I only need to buy a small extra PSU rather than a huge one if this would work.

yes its possilbe, its unneccessary, and jacks up ur bill, better of buying one expensive one

very bad idea, depending on the card.

when I did it with my 79GT, the 2nd PSU powered stuff on the motherboard though the PCI-E bus if the main PSU was off and the 2nd one on. This can damage your graphics card because of excess current being pulled through the traces.

I heard that the X1900s were OK with it, but I still wouldn't do it again.

If you really want dual PSUs, use one to power the opticals, HDDs, fans etc, and the other to power CPU, mobo, GPU.
