If you worked on compuers for 3 years now, then you'd KNOW if you have 4 slots and 2 RAM sticks or even 1 RAM stick! they cannot be placed in any slot you like... they have to be set a certain way.

That's really only for proper dual-channel support, and resolving potential compatibility issues. Generally, just inserting RAM should work, however. Just may not operate in Dual-Channel.
