I get the same message when I try to get into safe mode, by the way. (sorry for double post)

Would a Stinger boot disk do the trick?

it happened again today, (it didnt crash it just didnt start up after i shut it down) but i fixed it by just unplugging then replugging the HSF fan into the motherboard... do you think its the HSF...

yes its pretty strange isnt it, well the processor has survived an hour of orthos blend so it seems to be all okay now lol

it is rather strange how the cpu could unwork itself isnt it =/

right the problem is now solved- i tested with a freinds cpu and it worked fine, then inserted mine and it began to work again =/

yeah true, but im thinking that the reason that the fan isnt spinning is because the cpu isnt detected in the first place, and that would co-incide with the diagnostic LEDs.

actually, i think that i will use gparted, and then i will bother about how to combine the two partitions later beacuse thats not really necessary (although i would prefer it)
