is a good graphics card more important than a good processor for a gaming pc?

So i7 isn't a huge upgrade over the Core 2 Duo for gaming? It certainly would save money to get one of those and a lga 775 mobo.

I know the nvidia card is better, but we're tight for cash. If we could slice 100$ off the rest of the parts, I would definitely go for the Nvidia one. How many watts should the PSU be? (and is PC power and cooling a good company?) Mid or Full case?
