I'll guess I'll have to open up the keyboard and study the keyboard driver board and draw out the schematic and maybe get the alligator clips out and multi meter and start experimenting, its probably the only way I'm going to find out what wires go where.
Hi there,
I have an old AMSTRAD Retro Keyboard that would of had a DIN 5C plug on the end, no adapters where made for the DIN 5C type.
I'd like to use this keyboard for one of my sleeper build PC's and I had a spare PS/2 extension cable lying around so I've cut one end off and my plan is to...
I was thinking of doing that but then there was also the problem with windows update, unfortunately the motherboard has started to fail. First the on board sound went and then the computer started have a problem with the CMOS I tried a new CMOS battery but the computer no longer detected the...
Thanks for the link... I can't find the answer to the problem and it dosen't explain why I can't do a windows update or download another browser, I guess I'll just have to try Linux on it. Its obviously a complex problem that nobody knows the answer to... there could be underlying problems with...
I've just built another computer and installed Windows 7. Never had this problem before but when Windows 7 started up I got a notification to run Memory Diagnostic so I ran it, the computer did its thing checked the memory with no problems found.
I put in my wi-fi USB "which I've used on other...
I have plenty of old computers including some BBC Micro computers.
Anyhow I've sorted the problem with the Pentium 4 computer... well its no longer a Pentium 4 its now a quad core :)
I went ahead and upgraded the motherboard and power supply and hard drive.
It didn't cost me much to do either...
The Pentium 2 or 3 are better than Pentium 4 because they can run older hardware and are generally better for running Windows 98 and retro gaming on the whole. A lot sell for a lot of money on sites like ebay more than what an old junky P4 would go for.
A decent Linux OS is one that is stable...
Thanks I really appreciate you looking around for me :)
I found out that my video card is in fact a 256MB 9200 series Radeon, it would seem like Radeon made a lot of them but I have had no luck finding the correct drivers for the particular video card I have. I have also tried older versions...
Nah I tried that, those driver programs just put rubbish on the computer and they never have video drivers for cards anyway.
I'll just cut my losses with it and upgrade the motherboard at least then I can get a graphics card that has drivers.
Hi I realize that this is probably a long shot but I was just wondering if anybody had a driver for an ATI Radeon 9256R 256MB AGP video card or where I could find a driver.
I have looked everywhere for one in google but have had no luck.
Cheers.
Hi I installed the GPU I took a risk with it as it was sold as untested but it works under Windows 7 however finding the driver for this GPU has proved to be a nightmare and Windows only sees it as a 16MB video card under the windows 7 generic driver despite that I can still watch youtube videos...
I managed to get it sorted I had to disable one of the floppy drives and then Windows7 installed, there were long periods when it took its time so I had my figures crossed through the installation. Its all sorted now.
It did hang again when I went to install anti virus towards the end of the...
Cheers I'll try your suggestion, I'll also check the BIOS again to make sure I've not missed anything. I've been doing some Googling and it seems to be a common problem.
I'll post back soon
I used the Windows USB/DVD Boot tool I did test that too on another computer and it went to the next stage without hanging.
The part where it hangs is at the stage where a window should appear where you select the Language, Time & Currency Format, Keyboard Input Method but instead it just...
