Have to agree with you there. Another reason why I didn't switch to Vista was UAC and the fact that before an update you couldn't disable it, like you can now with Windows 7. UAC drove me nuts while fixing somebody's laptop a few months ago.

Yeah, I did the same thing strollin did and stuck with XP until I got 7. My machine could have ran Vista at the time, but I just avoided it.

Chrome uses an insane amount of RAM when I'm using it, but Firefox uses much more over time and Chrome keeps everything synced for me, so that's why I use it. I don't like the concept of the ChromeOS right now, and the netbooks, excuse me, Chromebooks that are available to the public are $300...

Well I have a 2.2 GHz single core AMD Athlon 64 3500+, and that machine runs Portal and Portal 2 quite smoothly if I turn down the anti-aliasing.

Yeah I guess my nVidia GeForce 7300GT has messed up my perception of high end xD Minecraft has always been fairly smooth for me on the highest settings.

Yeah, Windows 7 dropped support for that messenger. There is a substitute command, but I can't remember the name.

But man, that's just scary. And a lot of old(er) people I know are real cautious and suspicious of everything when using their computer. Many of them aren't that gullible and will in fact basically say they're smarter than the IT people.
