So... If I wanted to install software like Adaware, SpyBot, Hijack This and other such programs and did not connect to the internet, would you do it via CD(s) from a healthy PC to the infected PC? If not how would you get these programs onto the infected system?

I agree with cwiz, I like me Asus MoBo's (A8N32 SLI-D and P5B-D), but the P5B-D is quirky. When Oc'ing Asus boards the "power-on pause" symptom can be a real stress-inducer. I will be trying another MoBo manufacturer next year.

I am assembling a budget pc for an aquaintance. I was able to scrounge a Creative Labs SB 0220. The system recognizes the sound card and it functions.
I can't seem to find any drivers for it (not supported on the Creative website) without having to sign up for some s**t like...
