You advised him to get two SSDs after complaining about others doing the same thing.

    Solid State Drive PC

My point is, why complain about people telling the OP he doesn't need 25 SSDs, then in the same post advise the OP to get one or two SSDs! Of course, that is after calling half the people here idiots. I just find that kind of posting confusing, as I said.

    On checking HDD in XP

The drive may be worn out, but maybe not. I would try backing up all the data on the drive. Then, with the drive at working temp., repartition and reformat the drive. Then test it. I have run across a couple drives that just kept coming up with errors that a repartition and reformat fixed. It...

This has me a little confused. Are you asking why people keep rubbing in that the OP isn't asking for the best bang for the buck?

Using server as a network drive

Lan bandwidth is interesting. I just transfered a 1.36 GB file from a NAS four disk raid 5 array to my computer SATA II solid state drive using cat 6 cable and a Gigabit switch. The transfer averaged between 11 and 12 MBps. That is just slightly over 10% of the available bandwidth. I wonder...

[Sorry, more off topic] What I find funny is that nobody seems to gripe about Warren Buffet being the richest man in the world...why is that?

It sounds to me like you may have read Dan Brown's new book The Lost Symbol. I really enjoyed it. It make you really wonder about the potential of the mind.

Using server as a network drive

I prefer to use FreeNAS to make a file server out of an old computer, especially if the old computer is slow. But, if you would like to use Windows Server 2003, then check out this guide: Setting up & managing a file server in Windows 2003
