Wireless router to wireless router, wirelessly

You need 2 Bridges not AP's. Unless newer ones can act as bridges you won't be able to do it.

Are both machines XP? Normally XP does it pretty easily, but I hate XP, removed actually, keeping 2K.

    Routers?

A router is used to "route" packets. Not all routers have firewalls. It recieves packets and using a routing protocol determines where to deliver the packet (its Destination). Think of it like a highway with multiple exits and a traffic cope standing there, you drive up, show him your address...

    advice on router

What makes you feel it is a router issue. The router does no scripting. 802.11a is pretty much dead at this point and who knows, could it be a Win2000 problem?

You can disable the Nic card. Im not sure I understand what you mean by LAN disabled.

    advice on router

You have two ways to do this depending on your provider. If you are on cable such as road runner, they hand out 3 IP's for you. Then you can just get a small 10/100 hub. Your IP will be automatically assigned via DHCP. If you are running DSL, you will only be provided with one IP and your DNS...

    Netgear-Failure To Reconise Pc

Are you getting an IP address from the router? You are wired I presume, so I am really surprised all you PC's are having the same problem. COuld you give me an idea of your network (how everything is hooked up)? If your getting an IP, can you ping any of the other machines on your network?

My router is not allowing me to connect to the internet

I have installed pretty much Linksys, Netgear and D-link routers for people over past years. They are pretty much plug and play. One thing I have seen with mine at home is with cable (Road Runner) when I see this strange type of behavior I unplug my router and let it re-learn from the cable...

    Network Suffix

    Simply put, I hope: subnet /8 = 255.0.0.0 11111111.0000000.00000000.00000000 available hosts = 16777214 subnet /16 = 255.255.0.0 11111111.11111111.00000000.00000000 available hosts = 65534 subnet /24 = 255.255.255.0 11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000 available hosts = 254 and so on... In...

good wifi connection but cannot access internet!

Also a quick check would be to ping another computer that is on the same network. If you are getting an IP form that network you should be able to ping another computer. The other thing would be to insure you are setup for DCHP and your DNS is learned automatically. Next time you are at school...

    picking up others wireless connections

Interesting thing here. Normally hdsetup is part of the Linux slakware maintenence suite. Why it would show up on your list is very strange. I find it odder that where ever you go you see it. I find it hard to believe this is an external wiresless signal you are picking up all over town. By...

    Netgear-Failure To Reconise Pc

This may sound to simplistic, but make sure you re-installed your ethernet cards drivers correctly. Did you use DHCP or have a static IP? Go to device manager and see if the adaptor is there. I am unsure wh yyou would have an Icon for youLAN unless you have a NetGear adapter and it requires...
