i start with linux with mandrake and other shit (2 year) later slackware (1 year) now gentoo (0,5 year) best for me is gentoo =) but from this two i suggest slack ofcourse =)

for beginiers in slackware is very good packkaging system - slackpkg and swaret =) try it =)
