    Very First Gaming PC Build

Case - Good choice PSU - Your call, if you plan on upgrading a lot, you are going to need 600W. Both are good brands. Motherboard - Do you need WiFi? If not, you are better off getting a cheaper mobo, maybe the Gigabyte 965P DS3. CPU - I would upgrade to the e6600 since it has an xtra 2MB Cache...

    Which is the better CPU?

He is right though. You are not trying to, but you are. You should save up for C2D IMO.

Nvidia EVGA 7600 or ATI Sapphire Radeon X850XT 256MB

I've heard ATI cards have slightly more speed, but cause more noise, heat, and power consumption.

    Any suggestions?

What is your budget? That stuff sucks.

I wouldn't recommend you get OEM parts since they do not come with manuals and cables (i think?). Since you are new, I would recommend with going with retail parts.

Many Questions on a new PC

To be honest, I don't think you could afford a decent Vista computer build on a budget of $1200. Like I said before, Vista is rumored to cost $400, the DV10 cards are over $400, and then you need a ton of expensive stuff to make it all work.

DX10 is only compatible with Windows Vista. So that is a $400 + $400 video card. I highly recommend you buy the 7900 GTO asap. These things are the same as 7900GTX at half the price. They will probably run out of stock before the new cards come out.

I just did some major reading, and I learned some stuff, maybe obvious to you guys. The DX10 video cards will only be available to Microsoft Vista for one. I personally cannot afford this so I don't plan on buying it. Also, it seems like the eVGA 7900 GTO video cards are really low on stock. A...

Many Questions on a new PC

Do you have an actual Win. XP CD? Make sure it isn't something like a CD that is from a specific company. Dell and a few other companies have their own Win. XP CD for their computers. Here is a good, cheap case: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811119068 It doesn't seem...

I will compare this to the PC I plan to buy, so let me know what you think of review. Case- Cooler Master case because it was cheap and had really good reviews everywhere I looked. I don't think you need an unbelievable good case for decent quality. CPU - I prefer the E6600 because of the...

Many Questions on a new PC

    1. If you are spending over $1,000, then building a computer is worth it. The reason for this is that you have to buy an OS, where Win XP Home costs around $200. Do you have a copy of Windows? If not, then you will have to spend money on that as well. 2. You shouldn't get a case with a power...

I don't know what the price of the GeForce 8 series will be, but I am guessing over $300, which will cause the price of the computer to be around $1400+. As for the new games, it really depends on which games.
