    Satellite Networking Monitoring Tools

I know this isn't the appropriate forum, but I am posting here as this groups seems to have a great breadth of general tech knowledge... Can anyone recommend some utilities for monitoring actual bandwith and and accurate data transfer totals for a satellite network? I am going to be spending...

Gonna try to get a faster boot....

64 processes is insanely high. you really shouldnt have more than high 20s, low 30s unless you are always doing a lot of multitasking. do as commandercup recommends. i do that "clean boot" whenever i game on my work machine to eliminate the garbage.

    350W enough power?

It's always about amps, hehe. Chances are that psu wont cut it. Seriously, skip the pub a couple times and eat in the dining hall more and you can easily afford a decent psu.

will my hiper psu run a 8800gts

The Hiper will do you just fine. Hipers are actually pretty decent while they work. The big drawback to Hiper (from what some have said) is they dont last as long as a lot of other psu's. You may only get a year or two of good service out of them, but during that time frame they are solid...

I'm really worried about my PSU

The Q6600 will reach 3.2-3.3 without much trouble. You may not even have to change the voltage to get it to that. Im not familiar with the g0 stepping models yet, but my understanding is they use even less voltage so overclocking that shouldn't put any strain on the psu at all. When you start...

    CPU Temps for laptop??

Laptops have nowhere near the circulation of a decent laptop. A laptop will always run hotter than the same chip in a desktop case for that reason. My P4 averages mid 40s at idle and mid 60s at load. I have added a cooling pad, which has fans, blowing straight into the the underside of my...

    Monitors

That is true if you have a busy screen especially. I always run at 75 when gaming, but for me personally I have found it easier at 60 for routine stuff. I used to get headaches a lot when doing word processing, etc., but I haven't had that problem since I changed my defaults around what Im doing.

    Monitors

Have you checked your refresh rate (Hertz) settings? Sometimes eye strain can be a result of being too high or too low a setting. I run mine at 60 for routine desktop use. That may help.

Can this PSU keep my rig running fine?

if you bought 2 of the matched ram kits, you will indeed only get thee rebate for one. what i do is place two seperate orders when im buying more than one of something and put the second order in my wife's name and use my work address. you can do the same with a friend or family member as long...

    LCD or CRT?

The reason screen savers were invented was because of the burn in associated with stationary images left on a CRT screen for too long. This was more prominent with black and white or green CRT monitors. Color CRT monitors were less prone to the problem, but it was still an issue. This is the...

    G0 stepping...

the power demand will be lower, therefor the heat load will be lower. the lower the heat load, the easier it is to overclock. the easier is to overlcock, the better the performance. overlcocking results will be available soon. just watch.
