    so if i could isolate that...i.e. turn X back on, and suddenly error msg appears again - then it's the X that's the prob? and drwtsn is behaving normally? that is to say, it's picking up on these "cannot access memory" - ?

    Never had a toolbar installed... IE7? That ships with Vista, right? So is there anyway that I can disable this? As you know, IE6 doesn't have tabs.....
