so when win 7 is starting up, we see those 4 color spheres swirl and form the windows logo. does it mean anything if every time you boot up, those spheres freeze up for a sec, then continue as normally?

i'm not sure the 8400 was ever meant to be a "gaming" card even when it was new, let's just call it a mainstream card ;). from what i could find, the fx3500 should actually be decently faster than the 8400. if you can get your money back for it, do it, and just keep the 3500.

it depends on the part, whether the drivers are the same for both 32 and 64 bit or not. windows 7 should auto detect all your hardware and provide generic "microsoft" drivers to make your parts usable enough while you download the latest drivers. me personally, for things like the mobo...

1600mhz ram would work fine on that board. i would keep the original g.skill set you had listed, this way you'd still have 2 slots available if you want to add more ram later. getting that corsair ram would fill all your slots with just 1gig sticks, and it would cost more for the same amount...

why would he install vista when he's got win 7?

you shouldn't have a problem. i would say just make sure you have any important data backed up first though, because a reinstall means formatting your hdd. the whole process is very simple too.
