I would suggest call up the sony support or go to there website and try to get the exact configuration of the computer. U may post that comp model no here and someone might help. Once u have the exact configuration, searching for the drivers wont be difficult.

If i am not wrong there are some windows updates which do not allow a computer to be restored back to a date earlier than when they were installed. Just check if thats the case.

It seems u have some malfunctioning application that is loading up startup. Try unchecking unwanted startup items from msconfig. Although its just a work around it may remove the message.

If the computer is booting to the windows xp screen it might not be a mobo or a ram problem. U might just need to reinstall xp.

Do u by any chance have HP or compaq computer? If yes provide the exact model no. If office isnt on the computer now after running recovery from the correct cd and if u r sure that it was part of original deal then u must have received some cds for office. Try contacting the manufacturer.
