I'd go ahead and do the usual.
1.) Virus/Malware Scans. If alot shows up, post up a HiJack this log.
2.) Reinstall video card driver. Check for device conflicts

God stop giving this guy grief, his story sounds legit, yet everyone wants to jump on the 'piracy conspiracy bandwagon'.
Call Microsoft and talk to customer support, eventually you will get someone over there who can help you.

1.) While in hijack this, please select the following and click 'fix checked'.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\SOFTWA~1\soproc.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SOProc_RegSoAlertWxAjSzNn] rundll32 shell32.dll,ShellExec_RunDLL C:\PROGRA~1\SOFTWA~1\soproc.exe -pack...
It could be.... the fact that safemode doesn't work leads me to believe that. I mean, it's not loading any drivers and it still crashes. Maybe that or some weird hardware conflict.
This sound like a long shot by try reseating your ram. Also, how well ventilated is the case?

Change the compression settings. You'll loose quality but it will at least fit on a cd. One thing I do is compress the audio more than the video... nothing worse than a vid you can't even watch.

If microsoft wasn't such a nazi with their licensing I would be somewhat sympathetic to this new 'Genuine Advantage' stuff. But alas, they are not.

I didn't see anything outrageous with your log. There are a bunch of virus's that can look like a system process. Run a virus scan with panda: www.pandasoftware.com/activescan
