Advice on buying 2nd hand turntables

I'm looking for a turntable. I've googled around, but not really found any advice on picking them up second hand. I have a preamp with a turntable input, so I just need the turntable itself. Anyone got any tips to keep in mind? I'm wanting a hifi something rather than anything geared towards...

I hope you didn't test with expensive cans :P EDIT: and that's a nice looking casing too.

anybody made there own CPU cooler ?

Well... all heatsinks are "passive" really? Active heatsinks would use power to move the heat, say, by using a peltier device.

Well, just office/winamp/firefox/pdf reader sort of things? Doesn't take very long. I generally install alot of things over the next 3 weeks or so as and when I need them.

Takes me ~30 mins to get vista to a useable desktop, then a further ~30 mins to get drives and main apps on, and then I just install the odd app here and there when I need them.

    Turning CPU on w/out Heatsink?

Depends on the CPU I guess. I'd imagine it'd be fine for a little bit under low load situations, with cool-running CPUs. Just don't try it with no heatsink at all. ;) CPUs are alot more durable than you'd think.

If memtest passes they are likely fine. What is causing the BSODs?

    I am DONE with Ballistix...

It'd show up in memtests I mean. And I've no idea how that "fix" works either, but definatly not all memory is made the same. There are different ways of soldering the ICs to the PCB etc. Maybe the contraction and re-expansion helps somewhere in that regard. But sure, if you'd prefer to just...

The certain limited issue being dead micron D9 ram, which the ballistix IS. If the ram is unstable, and so capable of messing your data up, you'd see system instability anyway and know that there is an issue with it.

I said it's not going to cause corruption WITHOUT BEING UNSTABLE. Do you even read more than the first few words of posts? ie, you'd know the ram was bad. It won't be quietly annhilating your data without you knowing about it.

It's not going to cause data corruption without being unstable. And you back your stuff up, right?
