    SLI 9600GTs performnce increase

well actually I am not using the build in my sig, I am building an entirely new rig based around a Q6600 , 4 gigs of RAM and a MSI P6N Diamond LGA 775 SLI ATX Motherboard. WOW, a 9800GX2, that is AWESOME this makes me want these two 9600GTs even more. Will the Q6600 also bottleneck my cards?

    SLI 9600GTs performnce increase

About how much of a performance increase is there over the SINGLE GPU in my sig with these 2 cards in SLI? Obviously they will peform better in the computer I am planning on building, but how much of an increase should I see? Lets just use a comparison most people know. On the comp in my sig...

Also, some said that my tower wasn't adequate...why is that? I don't want to get any more expensive and the model I picked has received rave reviews on Newegg as far as space and cooling is concerned.

could someone post me a link to a good benchmark of the 9600GT in SLI mode beating the 8800GTs in SLI? thanks. I am just interested in how much the dual 9600s outperform the 8800GTs.

well, you are right as the difference isn't even a hundred dollars. I am always thinking about ways to reduce the price, call it a habit from my very early days of computer building. I am just going to stick with the q6600 per everyone's advice. Anyways, thank you to everyone who offered...

I know I said i have enough money for my current set up, and I do, but just for the sake of argument: is there any processor thats in the under 200 price range (i.e. the 6xxx series) that would be a good temporary holdover until a much nicer proc is bought?

ahh thank you for the clarification man, much appreciated. Well, I am taking all of your advice except for one thing, the extremely low price of the E6750 is quite attractive as an initial processor that I can upgrade to a Quad at a later date. About the 9600GT series, is there any specific...

    Also, your saying that 2 9600GTs outperform 2 8800GTs? I never thought...

hmm I'm surprised you say that, my bro is running an 8800GT along with a E6550 and it seems to perform very well. But, I will most likely take your advice. What is wrong with the 6xxx though?

Well, I have done a bit more research, and I agree with NoClue that the q6600 seems like a good bet for the future. Although I do have a new question...as a temporary (6 months or so) processor, would the 2.66GHz E6750 get the job done as far as running brand new games on max settings, or would...

ahh well reducing my dual 8800GTs to a single G92 will be a welcome reduction in price, thank you! Also, while I am on the topic of reducing the price, would a cheaper core 2 duo perform as well as the Quad in games? While I love the Idea of having 4 cores at my command, if there is no real...

are you sure a single GTS would be capable of running crysis at Ultra high settings with 16x AA and AF enabled? I know there is the new G92 version but I did not know it was that powerful if indeed you are correct. Also, (I am a newb at this) why do I need a CPU cooler if I am not planning to...

hey this is my first or second post on these forums. After reading for a year I finally have a reason to post. I have almost made enough $$$ for this beast computer I am about to order, and following this week's paycheck I will be placing my order from Newegg. I would appreciate it if you...
