don't get me wrong, it was immensely satisfying when i got it all working. But in those days everything was a challenge.
No computers used the same disk format, protocols had to be written for each machine etc.
Writing multi user accounts/stock control system on something like a BT merlin...
He only has talent if he builds it and gets it working lol.
I did this kind of stuff some 22 years ago. It's a good challenge but it's a long slog.
At the time i was in to it, i made a machine that could do things other "off the shelf" computers couldnt do. So it was worth making.
Make one...
While a good 500w is enough for your current system i would go for 600+.
This will give some head room for good overclocking and can hande a better graphics card should you upgrade, without any problems.
This is of course if the power supply is of a good quaility. Cheap generic power...
Until recently i used have always had one of each platform.
Intel has always been my main machine (for last 5 years anyway). They have always been a little more reliable and multi tasked MUCH better.
While earlier AMD gave good value they dont really have that market anymore thanks to the...

Re: CAN
It's a real world benchmark using real applications, whats not fair about that. My machine is on the leaderboard under my name with a score of 1.75. Your score then?
My machine is old and you can only just get past it on benchmarks geared for AMD (aquamark driectx9 GAMING bench) with...

Yes I left, I wasn't banned as giancarlo seems to think. suspended for a couple of days but didn't bother coming back. Just thought I would return to see if the AMD owners had got jobs and could afford a good machine. But alas theyre still at school I think.
I will pop back in a few...
