Ah... the way they had stated it it made it sound like restore discs were not available for sale. After one google, first result led to a page to purchase new OS discs. Thanks for your help and sorry for my ignorance.

How could I tell a short circuit from a mere giving out? What would the symptoms be at the time of the failure? The motherboard's red lights still work, the computer just won't turn on when I hit the switch.

Speaking of having the Audigy SE, I just remembered... my previous computer's power supply blew out... would that disable all the hardware connected? If not, I could use the case (regardless of power failure), DVD drives, Audigy SE, hard drive, and OS license (plus vista upgrade that I have) and...

Alright, how about 64-bit Vista, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ 2.19ghz, 4GB RAM, and a 640MB 8800GTS or 768MB 8800 GTX vid card?

Bottlenecking... is that a reference to macs or PC's?

I've heard that this definitely applies to Apple's Mac Pro tower, but do you need to balance your high-end hardware in a PC as well? For example, if you had say a 1GB 9800 GX2 NVIDIA video card, would you need a processor or RAM to match?

No image drives. I'm a bit nervous as my Norton Firewall expired, but I've never heard of a root kit, virus, or any of the sort in the form of an extra CD drive.
