Well, make sure it's completely uninstalled, and you delete the patch file from the program files, and reinstall. If that doesn't work, you could try to system restore to before you installed the game, and try again.

If you get rid of the sound card you just installed, be sure to get rid of the drivers that were installed as well to insure your system properly goes back to the original onboard sound.
