    New System Build

yes, this has been mentioned a couple times now. thank you. I was well aware of the power consumption and heat before my purchase as I've read and/or viewed multiple reviews/posts/etc. I took a good hard look at both companies and their offerings. this card won this time, for me. I've always...

    What You've Just Bought!

Bought a R9 390 and some Kodiak work boots.

    New System Build

and that's where I look at things differently. the RAM issue was big enough for NVidia to address it, admit their mistake and do trade up programs, and whatever other damage control. Reading things, people say it's okay, people say it's not. I don't want to leave that up to chance. I want a card...

    New System Build

so, totally pulled a 180 and went with an R9 390 haha. The 970's RAM issue really turned me off. and the 390's extra 4.5GB over the 970 (see what I did there haha) seems to help a bit when playing the higher reso's. no good deals on a 980. 390 was bought, taxed and shipped before the starting...

    New System Build

ugh ya, 970! I was posting this as I was running out the door lol. my main concern was the Oculus release specs with the recommendation of a 970 https://www.oculus.com/en-us/blog/the-rifts-recommended-spec-pc-sdk-0-6-released-and-mobile-vr-jam-voting/ So I was trying to build to this spec...

    New System Build

So, my PII 940 and AMD 57 something just isn't cutting it anymore. Well, I'm playing Arkham Origins without issues, but that's probably the last of it. I'm also looking forward to Oculus so that's a no doubt upgrade needed. Sadly, I'm jumping ship to Intel from AMD (hopefully I'll be back...

    say whaaaaaaat?

I had quite a bit written here. Been typing and reviewing what I was going to post for....30 minutes or so. But decided not to post it. Decided on below instead Honestly though, I'm just playing devils advocate here. Your post was the most interesting to me, so I went with it. Tried a little...

    say whaaaaaaat?

Sure I went into left field with it. I did say this was a brainstorming session, right? You do know brainstorming sessions don't need to stay on track? That's the whole purpose of it...to take something and run with it, and you potentially get to another point where you didn't even think you...

    say whaaaaaaat?

To say this is not even close is, well, wrong. Simply because it doesn't fit your needs, doesn't mean it won't fit the requirements of others. "Regular use" as you also call it is mighty subjective too. "Regular use" at your place I guarantee is different than "regular use" at my place. I...

    Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUA)

Also known to some vendors as Potentially Unwanted Programs (PAP) This is a feature of your Anti-Virus software and some, like Microsoft's System Center EndPoint Protection (SCEP) and Window Defender, do not have this enabled by default. In short, this feature can stop those unwanted...

    Best proxy for iPhone?

besides Hotspot, that rarely ever worked for me, I haven't used a free vpn. I've had overplay for about 4 years now.

    Best proxy for iPhone?

When I was testing iPhones, I threw on my overplay.net account and it worked pretty good. It's a paid service, about $9.95/month but I've never had a single issue with it. They have Proxy, VPN and SmartDNS. I've been told they don't keeps logs.

    Securing your IIS Servers

So, if you didn't know, SSLv3 is no longer a good way to secure your HTTPS transmissions. Heck, technically TLS 1.0 and 1.1 shouldn't even be used anymore. The big thing that started this was the POODLE attack. In a nutshell, it was a problem with the CBC encryption scheme. This allowed(s)...
