Okay, I'm about to throw together a rig with these parts:
GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 motherboard (micro ATX)
Intel Core i5-750 2.66Ghz cpu
Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333 RAM
Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 1GB graphics card
Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s hard drive
Recycled DVD Drive From Old...
Yeah, I'm running on a Gigabyte right now and have not had any problems with it in the last 2 years or so. They seem pretty solid. Just wanted to get an extra opinion or two to make sure I'm not making a big mistake or anything.
Thanks for the posts, man. If anyone else has any other positive...
Thanks for the second opinion; +1 for the 750. As far as P55 motherboards go, would this be a good choice? GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2
I don't think I'll ever be running a Crossfire or SLI setup so the extra PCI-e slot only running at 4x shouldn't really a big concern for me. I could go for the more...
Hey guys. I'm looking to upgrade from my low-end Core 2 Duo (e4300 @ 1.8Ghz) to either an i5-750 or an i5-660 for mainly gaming and video encoding. The gaming benchmarks at Tom's Hardware seem to favor the 750, but the other benchmarks seem to be a mixed bag. Which would you suggest I go with...
I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and just installed the DirectX SDK (Nov 2007). I've gone into the solution properties and added the DirectX SDK's \include and \lib\x86 directories, but VS refuses to find d3d9.h. What am I doing wrong?
Solved: I was putting the directories into the wrong...
Thanks for the help man. Turns out I just needed to make my program into a project though. Apparently working with a single file doesn't work VS2005...
I just installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Then I wrote a little program and hit ctrl+F5 to compile. Nothing happens. I go to the debug menu at the top and the debugging and compiling options are greyed out. I've googled it and can't find anything. So... how do I compile in VS2005?
I'm making a text game in Dev-C++. It's in a simple console window. Everything is working fine but since the screen has to refresh itself 20 times a second, the text is constantly flashing. Is there some way to make the text look more solid? I know in actual graphics programming, buffers are...

Problem solved. I forgot I temporarily plugged my keyboard into the usb port on my external hard drive. So I unplugged it and plugged it directly into my computer. No more random typing. I guess the usb port on my external drive is faulty or something. Oh well, not like I used it much anyways...
Crap. Now that I think about it, I do remember a bit of condensation from a can of soda dripping onto my keyboard one time... lol.
So I guess I'm probably screwed eh?
Every so often my usb keyboard will randomly type a few characters that my fingers were nowhere near. I just got it about a month ago and I haven't had any problems up until just a few days ago when it started doing this. It happens probably once every few minutes.
Example:
I'm on MSN and a...
