Most of my software programs are installed on a different partition (not C:).
If I format and re-install XP (sp-2) on my C drive; will my programs be recognized by the OS?.

Thanks for the reminder, I hadn't thought to check. The PSU output is 380 watts.
Various components of the old system have been ungraded over the years, including the PSU.
