I had a very similar problem recently, asked for help here as well lol. Ended up sorting it out by putting a jumper on pins 5 & 6 on the SATA drive. Don't know what that means but it worked

I just finished getting over a very similar problem although my mobo is an ASUS K8V-X, either way the way I got around it was to put a jumper over the pins 5 & 6 (second in from left) on the HD and it showed up straight away for me Hope this helps
