Try searching for all *.jpg files in your computer (assuming your photos were *.jpg).
You can do that by the following:
Windows 7:
start -> type .jpg (that is DOT JPG) -> show all
Windows 8:
search -> type .jpg -> click Files

I have an ATI RADEON 1G graphics card installed in my laptop (Dell inspiron i5 3521).
The original built-in graphic card is intel HD 4000.
Today i ran a driver update scan and it showed that i need to download/update driver for the intel HD 4000...
if you have enough free space, i think you should partition before formatting.
And it's very easy:
type diskmgmt.msc in command prompt , right click the hard drive you wanna shrink, shrink it, then you'll see a new available hard drive. Easy to go from there...
