upgrade and regular?

Whats the difference between the two versions of Windows 7? One is called an 'Upgrade' while the other's called a 'Full version.' The upgrade's much cheaper than the full version, so why not just get the upgrade?

The upgrade is for computers that already have Windows XP or Vista installed. If a computer doesn't have Windows, it needs a full version of 7.

I've heard that even if a computer doesn't have an OS, you can trick it or something to install the upgrade.

Well I did but I'm surprised that it seems so easy. I would have thought Microsoft had taken better care.
